Purpose : Wearable heart rhythm monitor devices provide more accurate and real-time detection for arrhythmia. We present the evaluation for the efficacy of wrist-worn type single-lead electrocardiography (ECG) monitor device (MEMO watch) compared with a standard Holter monitor.

Methods : From May 2020, the Efficacy of MEMO watch was evaluated by the prospective human study. Inclusion criteria were those 1) who had symptoms suggested having arrhythmia, 2) unknown origin stroke, or 3) persistent arrhythmic symptom after anti-arrhythmic intervention. Enrolled subjects were monitored with a 24-hour Holter monitor at the initial time and MEMO watch for four weeks. The results of the test were categorized as normal, atrial fibrillation (AF), or other arrhythmias.

Results : A total of 61 subjects was enrolled. The mean age was 46.9 ± 14.8 years old, and female was 29(47.5%). Those having prior diagnosed AF was 16(26.2%). MEMO watch demonstrated a significantly higher rate of AF detection compared with the Holter monitor. (AF detection: 6(9.8%) for Holter and 16(26.2%) for MEMO watch; P<0.001). Non-sustained ventricular tachycardia was found in one with only Memo watch monitor.

Conclusion : MEMO watch showed better efficacy in detecting arrhythmias such as AF and other arrhythmias than standard Holter monitor.
