Articulating Endoscopic Forceps for VATS - Initial Experience from Two Cases

Purpose : To report the initial experience from two cases of video-assisted thoracoscopic surgery (VATS), using an articulating endoscopic forceps (Artisential, LIVSMED, INC., Korea)

Methods : There were two cases - One bilateral VATS total thymectomy, the other VATS RLLobectomy.

Results : All the operations were successfully done using the Artisential articulating forceps.

Conclusion : Artisential forceps seems to require some training before direct application, but after getting used to it the forceps offered excellent traction and surgical view.
It may enable us to perform complex VATS surgeries more easily, such as sleeve lobectomies and vascular procedures.
