Background : The study objective was to assess the results of early hemodynamic findings of St Jude Medical Trifecta valve

Methods : A review was conducted of 75 patients (M:F = 32 : 43) who underwent aortic valve replacement with SJ Trifecta medical valve between December 2014 to July 2016. Indication for aortic valve replacement surgery included pure stenosis in 32 patients, regurgitation in 8 patients, mixed pathology in 27 patients and others in 8 patients. The number of used valve sizes are as follows; 19mm: 32, 21mm: 24, 23mm: 9, 25mm: 5, 27mm:5.

Results : Early in hospital mortality was 5.3%(4/75). At the time of discharge average ejection fraction was 52.5 ± 11.9, mean aortic pressure gradient was 11.2 ± 5.5 mmHg and average peak aortic pressure gradient was 20.3 ± 10.2 mmHg respectively. There was no paravalvular leak observed.

Conclusion : The St Jude Medical Trifecta valve is a unique pericardial bioprosthesis with design elements that provide tolerable hemodynamic performance in early post operative period
